Why Ply?

Peter is just a ply kind of guy. It's cheap yet consistent and built to set standards that you can rely on. Each sheet is smooth and square on the ends which is really handy, and a man can pick one up alone and put it in place. It is commonly available and makes a boat that is easily and endlessly repairable and very durable. But most importantly, it is ideal for one off, amateur construction, requiring only basic tools and simple site requirements. Modern epoxies complete the structure which is still one of the lightest ways to make a boat that is able to handle the inevitable knocks and scrapes of regular use. Gaboon ply allows for even further weight advantages.

If you choose a design that is meant for the amateur and you keep it simple you are less likely to get into a project that is just too much to finish and enjoy in a reasonable time .
